Born in Kishiwada city, Okasa.
Youngest winner of the Soen Award, the gateway of new designers, as a design course student of the Bunka Fashion College.
Based in Tokyo, she brought her show to the 1978 Paris Fashion Week, followed by impressive shows in Beijing, NY, Vietnam and Poland.
She received the Cavaliere of OSSI from Italy in 2006, and also won the Mont Blanc International Culture Prize in 2009. Her designs are highly appreciated all over the world. Her activities cover a wide range of fields, including stage costume designs for opera and Broadway, as well as interior design, food design, and fireworks display design. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, she also focused on activities toward recovery efforts.
The NHK TV drama, “CARNATION”, broadcast from October 2011 to March 2012 is about her mother, Ayako Koshino.
