Disseminating information about Japanese culture at the 2012 London Olympic Games drew media attention from around the world ARIGATO in LONDON

Background

Held in London during the 2012 Olympic Games, the event was a way to express appreciation for the worldwide support after the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster, and provide status updates about Japan’s recovery efforts. During the event, the film “ARIGATO (Thanks)” was aired, a photo exhibition was held, in addition to traditional Japanese cultural performances such as dance and drum (taiko). Also, at Hidetoshi Nakata’s suggestion, a “Japanese Sake Bar” offered Japanese Sake served by famous sake brewing masters.

What we did

As a member of the planning committee of “ARIGATO in LONDON”, Sunny Side Up took care of the project planning, casting members of the committee, contributed to sales activities for the participating companies, as well as to PR activities with the media. In addition, we coordinated some of the work in London, as well as the production and the operations of the project “Japanese Sake Bar” planned by a member of the committee, Hidetoshi Nakata. During the event, we could express “ARIGATO(Thanks)” from Japan to people visiting London from around the world, as well as the media.
