Realizing a “Sustainable City” Where “No One is Left Behind” from the Bay Area: Tokyo Waterfront Subcenter Next-Generation Mobility Demonstration Project

Overview

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government aims to realize a “Smart Tokyo” where the potential of Tokyo is maximized through digital technology, and the citizens of Tokyo can lead high-quality lives. The bay area is one of the areas where this is being implemented in advance. Therefore, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the “Digital Innovation City Council (DIC Council),” which promotes the implementation of digital technology in the waterfront subcenter, jointly organized the experience event “Come Ride the Future: Next-Generation Mobility City Experience,” featuring four mobility technologies under research and development. From January to February 2022, general participants were recruited, and experience sessions were held in the area for self-driving EV buses, suitcase-type navigation robots, and more.

Activities

① Broadly disseminate the appeal of next-generation mobility and the vision of the DIC Council

We were in charge of everything from recruiting participants for the event to the opening ceremony and all public relations activities during the event. We also created the event name, creative materials, and website.At the start of the event, we held an opening ceremony inviting Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and test rides for members of the press. By communicating the features of each mobility through the media, we fostered anticipation for the “future city” made possible by technology.

 

② Operation of Experience Sessions

We were in charge of the event operation for two of the four mobility projects. We strived to manage reservations for general participants and ensure safe operation on-site.

 

③ Acquired over 300 media exposures in television, newspapers, and online media. Each experience event was almost fully booked!

Our staff ran around the waterfront area to provide public relations support, gaining exposure in evening news programs and other media across various genres. The two projects operated by our company alone attracted over 270 participants.
