Overview

Meiji University has newly established a “Sports Administrator” to oversee the university’s sports sector, aiming to promote regional development and enhance the university’s brand power through sports. As its first initiative, the “MEIJI SPORTS Special (Table Tennis)” was implemented. An exchange match was held with table tennis powerhouses Peking University and Beijing Sport University from China, which have ties with Meiji University. A special venue was set up in the open space on the first floor of Meiji University’s Surugadai Campus, and the event was held as a table tennis event that attracted 5,000 students during lunchtime.

Together with Jun Ikeda, former DeNA BayStars president, who assumed the position of Special Assistant to the President of Meiji University in April 2017, we planned the “MEIJI SPORTS Special,” a sports project to make Meiji University’s sports more accessible. For the first event, (Table Tennis), we were in charge of planning, production, PR, and merchandise production for the entire event, and it was widely featured in newspapers, magazines, and online.
We will continue to support the implementation of various projects and events toward 2020, and disseminate the appeal of Meiji University’s sports content.
