Tokyo Sports Town 2011 Planning and Implementation

Overview
This is a participatory event for citizens to rediscover the power and skill of sports attractions that they rarely have the opportunity to see up close, and to experience sports together with athletes.
Guest athletes were invited to Asakusa Temple to perform demonstrations of gymnastics events such as balance beams and horizontal bars, and track and field events such as sprints and hurdles. Various hands-on events such as fencing and climbing were also held. On the day, Kohei Uchimura and Keiko Tsurumi, who were selected as representatives of Japan for the “World Gymnastics Tokyo 2011”, also rushed to the venue and gave practical guidance and talk shows on the competition, mainly for children.
Activities
Leveraging our track record of implementing sports events in the city center, including Tokyo Street Athletics, we planned and implemented the event and PR initiatives.
In the venue setting of Asakusa Temple, and in the superb location where the newly built Skytree can also be seen, we were able to make full use of our PR know-how and sports event know-how in terms of “creating images” unique to the city center, such as determining which competitions should be held in which spaces in order to capture the best press photos, which is different from a normal stadium, and we were able to achieve great success. In addition, this event helped to raise interest in “World Gymnastics Tokyo 2011” and “National Sports Festival Tokyo 2013”.
