Overview
The “Minna no Ie” project was launched in 2011, led by architect Toyo Ito, with the aim of providing a place for people in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake to communicate with each other, even while living in temporary housing. When the project began construction planning in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, the TAKE ACTION FOUNDATION, which agreed with the activities, also participated in the project.
Activities
In constructing “Minna no Ie” in Iwanuma, we participated from the architectural planning stage, including inspecting the planned site and exchanging opinions on how users would communicate with each other after completion. We also cooperated in terms of construction funding. After completion, “Iwanuma Minna no Ie” is operated by the “Specified Nonprofit Corporation Ganbatte!! Tamaura,” and is used by local residents as a reconstruction base closely rooted in the community, not only as a place of relaxation, but also for direct sales of local agricultural products and events using permanent kamado stoves.
