Overview

One of Asia’s largest LGBT* related events, “TOKYO RAINBOW PRIDE,” is held annually from the end of April to the beginning of May in various locations throughout Tokyo, primarily in Shibuya Ward. The “Pride Parade,” in which thousands march through the streets of Shibuya with rainbow flags, sees participants in a variety of costumes each year.In 2019, the parade had approximately 10,000 participants, and the total number of visitors to the entire event exceeded approximately 200,000.

Activities

Since 2014, SUNNY SIDE UP has been conducting PR activities as part of its CSR activities to promote social awareness and reconciliation for “LGBT” individuals, who have long been referred to as “sexual minorities” and whose existence is recognized but not yet fully accepted by society.

Since its founding, SUNNY SIDE UP has consistently been a diversity-friendly company that absorbs and integrates a wide range of values, without being bound by the “common sense” or preconceptions of the world. We will continue to maintain this policy and strive to be a company where people can express “who they are,” shine, and maximize their potential.

*) LGBT = A collective term for sexual minorities, an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (including gender identity disorder, referring to people who choose to live as a gender different from the one they were assigned at birth). There are many other sexualities. It is said to account for 7.6% of the total population of Japan, about the same proportion as left-handedness.
