Born in 1994, from Kyoto Prefecture.
Started playing tennis at the age of 7, reached the best 8 in the National Elementary School Tournament in 2006, then advanced to Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School, reaching the best 8 in the National Junior High School Tournament in 2009. After that, she was selected as a National Junior member and traveled overseas. In 2011, she achieved the remarkable feat of finishing as runner-up in the Australian Open Junior Doubles, one of the Grand Slam tournaments, the pinnacle of tennis. In 2012, she won the All Japan Junior Singles under 18.
Turned professional in 2013 and made her ITF debut. Won the All Japan Indoor Championships in 2014 March. In 2016 April, she won the doubles tour title at the Katowice Open in Poland. At the Australian Open in 2017, she achieved the historic feat of reaching the best 4 with a Japanese pair (partner: Eri Hozumi), and in 2017, she entered the French Open singles main draw. In September of the same year, she won through the qualifying rounds at the Japan Women’s Open and finished as runner-up in singles. First selected for the Fed Cup in 2018. Finished as runner-up in the Hana Cupido Open doubles in September, and the following week won the Toray Pan Pacific Open, the first victory for a Japanese pair.
In 2022, she participated in the doubles of all four Grand Slam tournaments. In 2023, at the French Open women’s doubles 3rd round, she overcame a disqualification controversy due to a severe penalty, switched gears, and won her first Grand Slam title in mixed doubles with Tim Pütz, with whom she had formed a pair for the first time.
