Profile
Born in Hokkaido. At the age of 23, while working as a carpenter, she fell from scaffolding at a construction site and suffered a spinal cord injury, leading to life in a wheelchair. Soon after being discharged from the hospital, she began playing wheelchair tennis, gradually expanding her activities as a professional player participating in numerous international tournaments.
She won 4th place in the doubles at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.
In 2016, she received the Asahikawa City Sports Association Sports Achievement Award. In the same year, she was appointed as the Asahikawa Tourism Ambassador. She is actively involved in promoting para-sports through lectures, hands-on workshops, and participation in events. She retired from active competition in May 2019.
After retirement, in addition to lectures and wheelchair tennis workshops, she has been widely involved in activities to contribute to the development and promotion of para-sports and the promotion of barrier-free environments, such as providing commentary for TV broadcasts of the Tokyo 2020 Games and serving as a Para-Sports Support Ambassador for Tokyo.
