Born in Kishiwada, Osaka.
While studying in the Design Department at Bunka Fashion College, she was the youngest recipient of the Soen Award, considered a gateway for new designers.
Based in Tokyo, she has held shows in various locations around the world, including Paris in 1978, Beijing, NY, Vietnam, and Poland.
She has received high acclaim from around the world, including the Cavaliere Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity in 2006 and the Montblanc International Culture Award in 2009. She is active in a wide range of fields, not only in clothing design such as opera and Broadway stage costumes and sports uniforms, but also in interior design, food, and fireworks design. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, she has also been actively involved in reconstruction support activities.
From October 2011 to March 2012, NHK’s serial television novel “Carnation,” based on Junko Koshino’s mother, Ayako Koshino, was broadcast.
