Born in Tokyo in 1967.
Married Natsuki Iijima, a professional windsurfer who was active at the forefront of the world, and had four children.
Natsuki passed away from liver cancer in 2005 at the age of 38. While in the hospital, he wrote three novels, including “If I Could Meet You in Heaven” (Shinchosha). His life was made into a film as “Life: If I Could Meet You in Heaven” (Toho), which was a great success.

Hiroko also wrote about the family’s journey since then in “Life: Papa is in My Heart” (Shinchosha).
Currently, she is active as an essayist and radio personality, and gives lectures utilizing her own experiences.
Residing in Hawaii.
