Etsuko Tsugihara, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP Inc. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), has been appointed President (Chairman) of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). After being first elected as a board member in 2019, Tsugihara has served as a board member for three consecutive years. This time, she has been selected as the first Japanese woman to serve as President, with a term of one year from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

IPRA (headquarters: UK, established: 1955) is a global PR association officially recognized by the United Nations. For more than half a century since its establishment, it has been conducting activities aimed at improving the logic, practice, and skills of PR worldwide. Today, it has member companies including PR firms from over 100 countries and is known as the most prestigious organization in the PR industry.

In addition, the “Golden World Awards,” established by the association in 1990 to recognize outstanding PR projects from around the world, is one of the leading awards in the PR industry, with entries received from around the world every year.

The board members who make up the board of directors consist of a total of 19 members (as of 2021) selected from PR companies and advertising agencies representing various countries around the world, and Tsugihara is the only Japanese member of the board. In the future, Tsugihara will be active as President, leading the board members who lead the world’s PR industry, with the theme of “CONNECT.” SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP and Tsugihara will become a “hub spot” connecting PR companies from various countries, expanding the network between companies and individuals, and working for one year with the goal of improving IPRA’s global recognition.
