The W society Executive Committee will implement the “egg week” campaign from Thursday, October 28, 2021 to Thursday, November 4, 2021, to raise awareness of opportunities to learn about one’s own body and give women and society “awareness.”
On the first day, October 28 (Thursday), a general conference on women’s healthcare and life design will be held at AOYAMA GRAND HALL (address: 2-14-6 Kita-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo) and online.
This campaign, which is being conducted under the project “W society” that designs women’s empowerment from both the physical and mental issues of women (W=woman) x social issues (society), which started in September this year, aims to improve literacy regarding the “AMH test *1,” a type of hormone test for women, while positioning “knowing” one’s current situation as the start of solving problems, and creating opportunities to consider “future options.”
The ambassadors include judo athlete Uta Abe, who has faced her “body” as a woman, model Seina Shimabukuro, whose lifestyle resonates with many women, and model Mira Hasegawa, who continues to share information as an opinion leader for the younger generation. These three diverse individuals, who symbolize the current era, will liven up “egg week” for a week by speaking at conferences and disseminating special content.
Please look forward to a week of learning about and deepening your knowledge of your “body’s current state.”
*1 Anti-Müllerian hormone test: A blood test that reflects the ovarian reserve (an estimate of the number of follicles remaining in the ovary). It is expected to be useful in designing life plans by knowing the current state of one’s own body.
■AMH Test and Life Plan Design
“Pregnancy and childbirth” is a major event for women when designing their life plans, but the number of infertility treatments in Japan is increasing year by year. In addition, the age at which infertility treatment is started is also increasing due to factors such as late marriage, and Japan is “the world’s largest infertility treatment country *2” with more than 450,000 in vitro fertilization cases per year. Compared to Europe and the United States, the timing of starting to face “one’s own body” is late, so while treatment technology is said to be the best in the world, the reality is that the “range of life plan choices” is unknowingly narrowing.
The AMH test (anti-Müllerian hormone test) that will be focused on in this “egg week” is a blood test that reflects the ovarian reserve (an estimate of the number of follicles remaining in the ovary). The oocytes created in the ovary during the fetal period do not increase in the body after that, and the approximately 2 million oocytes at birth are said to decrease to approximately 10,000 to 30,000 by the age of 35. Knowing the number and condition of one’s own oocytes through the AMH test is expected to help grasp “one’s own body’s current location” and design a life plan.
*2 Comparing the number of in vitro fertilization cases in 2017, Japan = approximately 450,000 cases (1st in the world), and the United States = approximately 280,000 cases (2nd in the world). (Calculated from data from the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, etc.)
■Uta Abe, Seina Shimabukuro, and Mira Hasegawa Appointed as Ambassadors
Judo athlete Uta Abe, model Seina Shimabukuro, and model Mira Hasegawa (in Japanese alphabetical order) will participate in the project as ambassadors to promote the “egg week” initiative. Uta Abe agreed to take on the role because she is an active athlete who is active at the forefront and agrees with the message of “the importance of each woman facing her body and thinking about her life plan.” Seina Shimabukuro and Mira Hasegawa also agreed to take on the role because they agreed with the importance of “knowing about one’s own body” and “thinking about future options” based on their experiences at each life stage.
The ambassadors will speak at the conference held on the first day and disseminate special content summarizing their comments and thoughts through the “egg week” official website and SNS. For a week, we will create “opportunities to know and learn about the current state of your body.”
■Starting with a conference, we will create “opportunities to know and learn about the current state of your body” for a week
On October 28 (Thursday), the first day of “egg week,” we will hold a general conference called “egg week Conference.” The first part of the conference is titled “Life Design Deciphered from AMH Testing: How to Know Your ‘Body’s Current State’ for Future Pregnancy and Childbirth?” and an obstetrician and gynecologist will explain basic knowledge about AMH testing.
Together with ambassador Mira Hasegawa, we will consider “future life plan options” such as pregnancy and childbirth, and unravel the “basics of AMH testing” that you should know now.
The second part is titled “Facing Your Body and Drawing ‘Yourself’: Hints for Preparing for Women’s Ailments,” and focuses on women’s ailments that change with each life stage. Ambassador Seina Shimabukuro will appear and have a cross-talk with doctors about daily worries such as menstrual pain and irregular menstruation, as well as pregnancy and childbirth that they face as their life stages change, and how to deal with ailments and anxieties related to them. We will unravel “hints for facing ailments and anxieties and shining in your own way.” The conference will be held with 50 people (planned) at each session, and will also be streamed online on YouTube.

With the words “promotion of women’s empowerment,” the modern era seems to show that many women are active at first glance. However, the fact is that individuals are designing their life plans while having different “unique physical worries and anxieties” for each life stage.
Starting with daily worries such as menstrual pain and irregular menstruation, pregnancy and childbirth that they face as their life stages change, and ailments and anxieties related to them. How do we face ailments and anxieties that can be called “fluctuations,” and how can we shine in our own way?
Together with Ambassador Seina Shimabukuro, we will unravel hints for facing ailments and anxieties that visit women at each life stage.

■What is “W society”?
“Working,” “getting married,” “giving birth,” “balancing both”… Now that the options for life plans are expanding and diversifying, the answer that “women’s empowerment” indicates should never be just one. This is a project that designs women’s empowerment from both the physical and mental issues of women (W=woman) x social issues (society), with the aim of “a society where all women can build fulfilling lifestyles with satisfaction.” We are developing various measures based on the three pillars of “knowing,” “learning,” and “changing,” and are promoting the social implementation and social transformation of measures that contribute to solving issues as a social participation-type project that transcends companies and involves industry, government, and academia.
