Johnny Associates, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Julie K. Fujishima) and SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Etsuko Tsugihara) will sequentially start “vaccination at workplaces (receiving vaccinations at workplaces in companies and universities that agree with the policy)” for entertainment industry workers from late June 2021, following the announcement of the government policy regarding COVID-19 vaccine “vaccination at workplaces.”

Currently, vaccinations are being sequentially promoted for the elderly aged 65 and over, and “vaccination at workplaces” is being promoted mainly by large companies. However, regarding vaccinations for the 20s to 40s age group, which accounts for a large portion of the working population, although some local governments are sequentially promoting vaccinations, it is expected that it will still take time overall.

Turning our attention to the entertainment industry, where many people are involved in creating a single piece of content, such as events, movies, music, theater, and live performances, the current situation is that it is being greatly affected by the novel coronavirus. In addition, in addition to the fact that there are many freelance workers in the same industry, there is also the issue that it is difficult to work remotely due to the nature of the work. Even with thorough infection prevention measures in place, there are operational characteristics that result in a minimum amount of contact between people, making it one of the industries where vaccination is urgently needed.

Based on these circumstances, Johnny Associates and SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP will implement “vaccination at workplaces” for entertainment industry workers. Those eligible for vaccination will mainly consist of people involved in the planning, production, and operation of events, movies, music, theater, live performances, etc. Including the employees of the two companies, individual calls will be made to those in the broad entertainment industry who wish to be vaccinated, utilizing the networks of the two companies.

[Outline of Vaccination at Workplaces]
Period: The first vaccination is scheduled to be administered in late June, and the second vaccination is scheduled to be administered in late July.
Venue: Indoor facility in Tokyo (tentative)
Vaccine: Takeda/Moderna COVID-19 vaccine distributed by the government
Eligible persons: Entertainment industry workers (including employees of the two companies)
Number of eligible persons: Approximately 1,000 or more in total (tentative)

Entertainment does not have the power to directly prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. However, entertainment, which has “moved people’s hearts,” should have the power to give those who come into contact with its content the energy to face tomorrow, as well as to encourage actions to prevent the spread of infection.

Through this “vaccination at workplaces,” we will support the entire entertainment industry and promote activities to return to a society where everyone can enjoy entertainment with peace of mind as soon as possible.
