Etsuko Tsugihara, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, Appointed Chairperson of Keidanren’s Committee on Promotion of Diversity

Etsuko Tsugihara, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP Inc. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”), was appointed as Chairperson of the Committee on Promotion of Diversity of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

The Committee on Promotion of Diversity is an organization composed of companies affiliated with Keidanren to promote “Diversity Inclusion (respecting and recognizing each individual while diverse human resources exist)” from the economic world. Currently, 344 companies* are participating, with Yasuyoshi Karasawa (Chairman of the Board, MSAD Insurance Group Holdings) and Masahiko Uotani (President and CEO, Shiseido) serving as chairpersons. In the Growth Strategy announced by Keidanren in November 2020, “Promotion of Diversity Inclusion” is advocated as a key to realizing a sustainable capitalist society and is regarded as an important pillar of corporate management strategy.

Meanwhile, within the Company, the “SSU DIVERSITY LAB” project was launched in July 2015 with the aim of promoting Diversity Inclusion. Through the establishment of the “Dear Woman” system, a welfare program including egg freezing assistance, and the “Partnership” system, which grants marriage leave and other rights to members who have entered into same-sex or common-law marriages, we have been promoting the creation of an environment where each individual can work in their own way, embodying the spirit of Diversity Inclusion.

Against this background, Tsugihara’s appointment as Chairperson of the Committee was decided. Towards the goal set by Keidanren of “aiming to increase the percentage of women in executive positions to 30% or more by 2030,” the committee will promote initiatives to further accelerate Diversity Inclusion, starting with the action “Challenge to 30% by 2030 Here We Go 203030” launched by the committee.

Going forward, while promoting the activities of the Committee on Promotion of Diversity, we will continue our activities with the aim of realizing a society where it is natural to recognize each other’s individuality with respect, under the Company’s Diversity Inclusion slogan, “We’re all the same, because We’re all different.”

This challenge was launched with the aim of forming a common understanding of the significance of Keidanren’s goal of “aiming to increase the percentage of women in executive positions to 30% or more by 2030” and creating a movement towards achieving the goal. Top management themselves reaffirm the importance of Diversity Inclusion and call for agreement on further efforts by each company and organization, focusing on the following four points.
