We are pleased to announce that the activities related to the “Avatar Robot Cafe DAWN ver.β 2.0,” for which we were in charge of PR, have won the “Wood Pencil Award” in the Design Transformation category at the “D&AD Awards 2020,” the highest international creative award.*
The “D&AD Awards” is a creative award established in 1962 by D&AD (British Design & Art Direction), a non-profit organization based in London, UK. It aims to promote and support originality in design, advertising, communication, technology, and film, and is recognized as one of the highest international awards in the creative industry.
The “Avatar Robot Cafe DAWN ver.β 2.0,” where people with intractable diseases or severe disabilities who have difficulty going out operate avatar robots to provide customer service, was held for a limited time in Tokyo in October 2019. The project widely disseminated the message of Ory Laboratory Inc., which is working on the project, to “eliminate human loneliness with communication technology,” and attracted much attention as a project that communicated a future “new way of working” and a “new way of living.”
