With the end of a 45 year long dictatorship, Myanmar was able to host an international sports tournament, the 2013 South East Asian Games (SEA Games). The Myanmar government and president Thein Sein requested top Japanese designer Junko Koshino to design and produce the Myanmar team uniform for 2,400 athletes. She formed a “all made in Japan team” and incorporated Japanese state-of-the-art technology in her design and production. The presentation ceremony was held in Myanmar.
What we did
As a member of the executive committee for the event, Sunny Side Up lead the project operations, communication with supporting companies and provided promotional support. The ceremony was broadcast live in Myanmar. While highlighting Japan’s support for Myanmar, the project also promoted Japanese fashion culture in ASEAN countries. It helped strengthen the friendly relationship between Japan and Myanmar.
