She was born in Tokyo, in 1967. She got married with a world top professional windsurfer, Natsuki Iijima, and is the mother of 4 children. Her husband, Natsuki passed away in 2005 of a liver cancer at the age of 38. He wrote 3 novels including “Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara (I wish I could see you in the heaven)”. Based on the novels, the film “Life- Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara (I wish I could see you in the heaven)” was produced and highly appreciated.

Hiroko published her book “Life-Papa ha kokorononakani iru (Dad is always in our hearts)” writing about her family life after his death. Currently, she is working as an essayist and as a radio personality, and also does lectures based on her own experience. She lives in Hawaii.
